At Windows & More here in the Lake Ozark area, we know that our customers like to make the most of their living space—especially during the summer months. That’s why we’re pleased to help them find window treatments that can expand their homes into the outside areas such as patios, balconies, or terraces. The benefits are great. For example, when used to surround a patio or a partially enclosed sunroom, the heavy-duty Outdoor Solar Shade in the Hunter Douglas Alustra® Collection of Woven Textures® will help reduce your cooling costs in the summer months.
Color and Texture
When you’re deciding which color and texture to use, remember the following: Be nice to your neighbors. They may not want to see your favorite color from their backyard. White will usually go to a softer white, so start with white. Black will blend into the evening, and neutrals will always work. As for texture, remember that, the heavier the texture, the more outdoor particles will stick to them. Test the sample to see whether leaves and debris stick to the fabric. Also, if you have a patio with a view, make sure you can see through the fabric to enjoy what you love to look at even when the blind is down.
Child Safety
Always keep your children’s safety in mind. Dangling cords can lead to strangulation of children and pets, so consider your options for operating systems–for a patio or backyard covering, a crank would be a good option. As of yet, motorization is not readily available for the outdoors. Select the safest option for your window treatments for our children and pets.
Care of Solar Shades
All solar shades come standard with a wind-flex tie-down system that helps keep them in place during mild inclement weather situations. However, be sure to respect the heavy-duty Outdoor Solar Shades. If high winds or heavy rain is expected, they might need to be pulled up to protect them. If treated properly, they will give you years of privacy and enjoyment.
