How Much Light Comes In?
Every Hunter Douglas window covering provides some measure of light control, depending on the fabric and color you select, light gaps, seams, and rout holes. Keep in mind that window shades and blinds cannot completely eliminate incoming light as there are inherently slight light gaps. Regardless of your choice, Hunter Douglas window fashions has the perfect blinds, shades, or shutters to meet your needs.
Blocking the Light
For total darkness, choose a window covering with “true” blackout materials in the collection. Also consider where you choose to mount the product—if you mount it on the outside of the frame instead of on the inside, you’ll minimize the light gap. Some great Hunter Douglas options include Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Wood blinds with de-Light™ (which eliminates the rout holes), roller shades, shutters, and Modern Precious Metals® Aluminum Blinds with de-Light™.
Darkening the Room
Semi-opaque and opaque materials almost completely block out the light. We say “almost” because, if you select these fabrics, they do a good job darkening a room, but do not entirely eliminate light. Great Hunter Douglas options include Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Silhouette® Window Shadings, and Pirouette® Window Shadings. Another option for room-darkening capabilities is to add a liner, an option that’s available on designer roller shades, Provenance® Woven Woods, and Silhouette® Window Fashions.
