At Windows & More serving the Lake Ozark area, many of our customers are lucky enough to have beautiful bay windows in their homes. Those architectural statements can sometimes seem difficult to treat. But we’ve got some tips on how to approach these beauties so that covering them won’t seem so daunting. Read on to learn more!
Consider Drapery Panels
You can hang a long, straight curtain rod in the header space above the windows for floor-to-ceiling drapery panels. Choose your fabric so that it doesn’t clutter the window or obstruct the view. With the panels open, you’ll get the look of a decorative picture frame for the outside view.
One Unit or Individual Windows?
You can approach your bay as one large unit or as three separate windows. If you want the look of one unit, consider Design Studio™ Roman Shades from Hunter Douglas, which can be sized differently to fit each window, but then are mounted outside the windows’ molding so they fit snugly next to each other. This creates the effect of melding the windows together visually. You can create the same effect with other shade styles, like Provenance® Woven Wood Shades or Duette® honeycomb shades from Hunter Douglas. To have each section seem like an individual window, mount the treatment inside the molding so it doesn’t touch the other treatments, but instead inhabits the space within the window frame. Plantation shutters like Heritance® hardwood shutters or NewStyle® hybrid shutters by Hunter Douglas are a great option when installed inside the molding to cover the bottom of each window. By keeping the treatments identical, the bay still appears consistent.
